Lake Ennis, Montana

It seems like it is time for a state-side post!

My roommate and I took a quick day trip from Bozeman to Lake Ennis the other day and it was fantastic! Lake Ennis has everything you could ask for from a lake. Whether you enjoy fishing, swimming, lounging, or jet skiing. We brought my roommate's dog and he had a great time swimming in the lake and playing with the other dogs who were also there.

The mountain peaks surrounding the lake were still sprinkled with snow, but the weather at the lake was a warm 65ºF and sunny. The water was absolutely beautiful and it was entertaining watching the boaters and jet skiers embark onto the lake from the dock. There are three different spots to turn off at the lake. We stopped at the second turnoff, but checked all of them out on our trip.

There are plenty of parking spaces available, but I'm sure as the summer begins and the weather starts to get a little warmer, there may be a crunch for parking, so just a heads up!

If you have a chance and want to check out the Madison Dam, it's very cool to see and the scenery surrounding it is beautiful! You just have to continue following the road and when you get to the bridge, take a left. There are plenty of turn offs on the road to the dam where you can see the Madison River and take plenty of pictures of the mountains surrounding you. There is also a trailhead near the dam if you are interested in taking a hike while you are exploring.

Overall, I am glad we took a trip to Ennis Lake and it is definitely somewhere we will be returning this summer with the dogs and some hiking gear to check out the trails!

Beware: Be careful when getting to the lake as Google Maps will take you to a private road that doesn't allow for public lake access. There are signs that will bring you to the correct road for public lake access!
